Get to Know Us

The mission of the Memorial Christian Counseling Center is to provide professional counseling within a Christ-centered framework. Our therapeutic approach is anchored in the Christian worldview. We believe the Bible provides the principles and truths to help us thrive. This Christian anchor, paired with proven clinical therapies and techniques, we believe have prepared us to offer the best approach to help our clients move towards healing and a new life in Christ.

We believe God created each person uniquely, and we seek first to understand the specific experiences, beliefs, and situations of our clients. Focusing on finding the heart of the struggle allows us, together with our clients, to develop realistic and helpful solutions that bring about lasting change.

Our counselors are licensed through the State of Texas and complete regular professional trainings. They have different areas of expertise and are current on research and treatment. Our goal is to provide clients with efficient and thorough counseling; we will not rush our clients, nor needlessly prolong therapy.

I started pastoral counseling as a youth minister in 1997 and completed my formal counseling education in 2006. I have loved every minute of this work. While challenging and heart breaking at times, restoring hope and healing to the hurting and wounded is a worthy calling. When I first started to do crisis intervention, I would say a simple prayer right before seeing each client or patient. I asked God to “give me Your eyes and Your heart.” I knew that God had to be at the center of any healing modality or approach to therapy if there was going to be any lasting change.

As a professional counselor, I appreciate and use many different approaches to counseling that have been clinically proven to address all kinds of mental and behavioral health issues. I am also intrigued, but not at all surprised, that the principles and techniques that have been “discovered” and utilized in the counseling world are often paralleled in Scripture. I therefore commonly use clinical counseling approaches combined with biblical truths.

I graduated from the University of North Texas in 2006 with a Masters of Education in Counseling and later completed the required 3000 hours of supervised training to obtain my license as a professional counselor (LPC) in Texas. I am married with 5 children and enjoy the great outdoors, good food, and always open to trying new things
